Episode 7: Brownies and Knitting UpdatesBootie and Bossy
00:00 / 40:22

What we discussed:

This episode is dedicated to our father, Bill Klein, who passed away 26 years ago on February 12.  We still miss you every day, and we wouldn't mind if you ate all of the brownies and chocolate chips and cloves and science projects.

"Here comes Janet with her damn brownies!"--Janet

The famous and sometimes infamous brownie recipe! It was truly a delight to have our mom (hi, mom!), a.k.a. "Mom the Bomb," on our podcast to talk about her brownie recipe.

Bossy swatched for the Arpeggio Shawl by Martha Wissing she's knitting. Bossy is modifying the pattern so that it's a poncho instead of a shawl. She's using Valley Yarns (Webs' brand) Westfield in Graphite, Natural and Persimmon. She's knitting with size 6 Addi Rocket squared needles from Webs.

Bootie is making progress on her Brezel sweater by Marie Greene and phew! it's not ginormous. Bootie is not sure she should feel too excited by that, but she'll take it! The yarn is Purl Soho Good Wool in Blue Moon. She is using her Chiaogoo Forte needles in size 5 for the body

Here is a video from Olive Knits for cabling without a cable needle when doing  right leaning cables.

Bootie prefers the method for left leaning cables that she got from Stitch and Bitch, an extremely helpful book for beginners.

Here's a video tutorial for the left leaning cables! This video is by Andrea Mowry, She's awesome and Bootie has knit many of her patterns. The left leaning cable part starts at around minute 2.20.

A little bit of progress on Bootie's Musselburgh hat by Ysolda Teague.

She's using Uneek sock yarn (colorway number 53) and Chiaogoo minis on size 2 needles.

We have a game, thanks to our brilliant children who made it for us! Note that (for now) it is only playable on a desktop computer. Maybe you need a distraction for certain people so that you can get more knitting time? Or maybe you want to play a superfun knitting game? Either way, enjoy!!
